On 12th June 2015, BackCare’s Head of Research & Education, Dr Adam Al-Kashi talked on the BBC Breakfast programme, stressing the importance of managing back pain alongside painkillers rather than relying on painkillers alone. He quoted : “drugs are not a sustainable solutions for chronic/persistent/long-term/recurrent pain”.

Although painkillers have undeniably a place in helping you return to normal activity sooner, they don’t directly promote recovery. If you feel trapped or stuck in a persistent pain cycle, looking at all the different factors that feed into your pain condition will pay dividends. Learning good self-management skills and incorporating them into your lifestyle put you in charge of your health and wellbeing. After all, backpain needn’t be a a life sentence!

The aim of my workshop on Backcare Management with Dru Yoga is to give you a better understanding of pain as well as tips and techniques to help improve your flexibility, strength and mobility. It will introduce you to some gentle and safe Dru yoga stretches.

To next Introduction to Back Care Management with Dru Yoga is on 29th June 2-4 pm and costs £22. Book your place on the course, please get in touch with me, not Neal’s Yard remedies.

You need to perceive resolutions as a bonus to your life, a positive inclusion rather than a restriction or an exclusion. If you are already stressed, you may find it more beneficial to focus on an intention or a way of being rather than choosing something new and fancy with a strong outcome and specific tangible results attached to it.
