Laughter, a path to freedom and joy

Who does not enjoy laughing ? Laughing has a positive and powerful effect on us and we love to indulge in it. Apart from the many benefits mentioned in previous articles, laughter provides us with the opportunity to access the “here and now”t. Have you noticed that when you laugh, there is no future, no past and no thoughts ?  It brings on a state of mindfulness which allows us to live fully and experience the freedom and joy of the present moment.

Doing Laughter Yoga on a regular basis connects you with your true nature. The only requisite in Laughter Yoga is to decide to laugh no matter what and for no reason, whether the laughter is fake and an exercise or is a true expression of your joy. Before attending a Laughter Yoga workshop, you may fear feeling silly or self-conscious about laughing in front of other people. “Am I going to be able to laugh on demand with people who have met for the sole purpose of laughing? “ Perhaps you have forgotten the sound of your own laugh and have become desensitised to laughing. In Laughter Yoga you laugh with people and not at them: you are doing it for yourself, not to impress others. You don’t even need a sense of humour. Faking a laugh will lead to the real laughter behind the fear. When you laugh with people, instinctive barriers are being broken and people are more open with each other.

Laughing aloud and with people is a universal human trait and an important social communication skill transcending language, religion, culture or education. The next Laughter Yoga workshop is on 2nd June 2019, 10 am - 12.30 pm at Neal’s Yard Remedies and costs £ 22. Please book your place with me directly and not Neal’s Yard Remedies.

You need to perceive resolutions as a bonus to your life, a positive inclusion rather than a restriction or an exclusion. If you are already stressed, you may find it more beneficial to focus on an intention or a way of being rather than choosing something new and fancy with a strong outcome and specific tangible results attached to it.
